How it works: Repair cafes are an invitation to repair or reimagine broken items. They also foster sustainability, save you money, and build repair skills in our community! Participants should expect to attend this event in person and even sit beside their repair expert to help with the repair or learn a few repair skills of their own! No drop-off items, please. Our volunteer repair experts will do their very best to repair your item or make recommendations for next steps, such as a part to buy, or a professional to consult. In some cases, they will share their opinion that a repair is not possible, in which case you can donate the broken item to an upcoming program where youth in our community will take it apart and learn about its inner workings. Participants will be asked to sign a liability release. Brownell Library and our volunteers are not responsible for any damages that occur. Items with sentimental or monetary value should be taken to a paid professional. Successful repairs will be celebrated enthusiastically, and the library may be a little louder than normal during this event.
