The seven members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Village Trustees. The commission meets monthly to review development applications, update the Land Development Code and assist in the update of the Comprehensive Plan.
In accordance with the Village of Essex Junction Charter: There shall be a Village Planning Commission appointed by the Trustees for terms of three years from among the qualified voters of the Village. Members of the commission shall hold no other Village office. The planning commission shall; (1) make recommendations to the Village Trustees on all matters affecting the physical development of the Village, (2) review subdivision applications, (3) review site plan applications, (4) recommend master plan amendments to the Trustees, (5) recommend zoning ordinance amendments to the Trustees, and (6) exercise all other responsibilities as may be provided by law.

If you wish to discuss a concern with the Planning Commission, the best way to do this is to attend a Planning Commission meeting. Please call the Community Development Department at 878-6950 and speak to either Robin Pierce or Terry Hass if you wish to register a concern or if you have a question about development applications within the Village.
