New Ballot Coming for School Director Election

Posted Tuesday, March 31, 2026
Updates

If you requested mail-in ballots before March 27th for the upcoming City and School District elections, please read this important update regarding an error on one of your ballots.

The Issue
The original mailing contained two ballots:

  • Ballot 1: A single-sided ballot for School District Articles I–VI.
  • Ballot 2: A double-sided ballot with City Questions on one side and the School Director (Article VII) race on the other.

The error: The instructions for the School Director race incorrectly say “Vote for no more than ONE.” You are actually allowed to vote for TWO candidates.

The Solution
Because of this mistake, the lawyers for the City and the EWSD agree that the School Director side of ballot 2 cannot be counted. To ensure your vote is valid, we are mailing you a third, corrected ballot specifically for the School Director race.
What You Need to Do

  1. Wait for your new ballot: You will automatically receive the corrected School Director ballot in the mail (expected to mail by mid-week).
  2. Vote on the City side: You should still fill out the “City Questions” side of your original double-sided ballot as usual.
  3. Return all ballots together: Place the original two ballots AND the new, corrected ballot into the return envelope provided and send them back to the City Offices.

Note: If you requested a ballot on or after Friday, March 27, your mailing will already include the corrected ballots.

What if You Already Mailed Back Your Ballots
If you have already mailed back the original ballots, then fill out the new school ballot upon receipt and send it in or drop it off at the office or in the ballot box at 2 Lincoln Street.
