Lane Closure in Essex to Support Grid Reliability Work

Posted Friday, May 7, 2021

The safety and reliability of Vermont’s electric transmission system depends on effective maintenance of Vermont Electric Power Company's (VELCO) electric transmission structures to ensure they can continue to serve Vermont’s energy needs. VELCO must periodically replace or upgrade aging and damaged infrastructure to continue to deliver the safe and reliable power that is essential to our homes, businesses, and communities. The company will be replacing an electric transmission utility pole next to VT-15/Pearl Street in Essex as part of its ongoing Essex- Milton transmission line maintenance work. Beginning May 3 and through the month of May, drivers should expect traffic pattern changes on VT Route- 15/Pearl Street, in Essex, in the area between Susie Wilson Road and the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds, to support this work. A section of the existing VT-15  median will be removed to create a temporary lane for east bound traffic to continue around the work site. After completion of the pole replacement, the median will be restored and the normal traffic pattern will resume. For more information, visit www.velco.com/pearlstreet.
