The City of Essex Junction invites all residents to participate in a community-wide vision and strategic action plan for the City of Essex Junction. The Vision and Strategic Action Plan project, which will run now through February 2024, aims to create a vision that understands the whole community, reflects core community values, addresses emerging trends and issues, and imagines a preferred future, all with feedback from the community. Once the community vision has been established, a Strategic Action Plan will be developed with defined priorities, realistic, achievable targets, and milestones that measure the City’s progress throughout the next five years.

The City of Essex Junction has contracted with the consulting and research company Future iQ to facilitate the development of the Vision and Strategic Action Plan. Throughout the coming months, community members will have numerous opportunities to participate in and engage with the process. The first opportunity will be the Stakeholder Survey that will run October 6-27. The survey results will help inform the “Think-Tank” workshop, which will be held in two 3-hour sessions on November 2 and 4. Residents attending the Think Tank will use scenario planning to generate plausible futures for the City of Essex Junction.

Additional engagement opportunities following the Think Tank will include a post-Think-Tank survey, a Charrette, focus group sessions, and a “Future Summit.” The City of Essex Junction Community Visioning and Strategic Action Plan will be presented in February 2024.
