The Champlain Water District, in collaboration with the City of Essex Junction Public Works Department, will be implementing a scheduled water shutdown on Thursday, October 23, 2025. The water service will be interrupted from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on West Street, between West Street Extension and Park Street. Residents living on Owaissa Ave., Hiawatha Ave., Nahma Ave., Loubier Dr., Brownell Dr., Doon Way, and parts of West Street will be directly affected by this water shutdown. Whitcomb Woods and the Vermont Forest Parks will also be affected. Notices will be distributed to these residents ahead of the scheduled shutdown.
This essential maintenance will involve the removal of a 6" CWD water main interconnection and the installation of a new 6" valve on the City's water main.
While repairs are underway, traffic on West Street between Killoran Drive and Loubier Drive will be reduced to one lane, and traffic control measures will be implemented to ensure safety. Please be aware that the northern end of Hiawatha Ave at the West Street intersection will be closed during this time.
