Village Receives Grant to Convert Tennis Courts to Pickleball Courts

Posted Wednesday, November 27, 2019

The Village of Essex Junction Recreation & Parks Department (EJRP) is proud to announce that we have received a Building Communities: Recreational Facilities Grant from the State of Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services. EJRP will use this $5,000 award to offset the cost of converting two tennis courts to six pickleball courts at Cascade Park. Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Pickleball has experienced immense growth in recent years and is considered to be one of the fastest-growing sports across the nation.

“EJRP is tremendously thankful to the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services for awarding us a Recreational Facilities Grant. We are pleased to be able to use these funds to grow our recreational options and offer more choices for our community.” -Brad Luck, Director, EJRP
