Residents are encouraged to take part in tours of the current Public Works facility to gain firsthand insight into its condition in preparation for the upcoming bond vote on April 14. While many community members are familiar with the essential services provided by the Public Works crew, few have seen the daily challenges they face because of aging infrastructure.
The primary building, portions of which date back nearly 80 years, has reached the end of its serviceable life and can no longer adequately support the Public Works Department's daily operations. On the Annual Meeting ballot, voters will be asked to authorize a $13,960,000 general obligation bond to fund the construction of a new Public Works facility.
Tours will be offered at the current facility, located at 11 Jacson Street, on Wednesday, March 18, and Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. each day. No advance registration is necessary—residents are encouraged to drop in at their convenience during tour hours. Tours are weather-dependent. If a snowstorm occurs, tours will be canceled so the Public Works crew can prioritize road maintenance.
