The City Council’s recent community drive for Aunt Dot’s Place, held in December, garnered an impressive show of support from local residents. The drive, aimed at assisting the community, collected a total of 224 pounds of food and personal care items, along with $550 in donations.

The City Council would like to express gratitude to the community for its generosity, noting that the contributions will keep Aunt Dot’s Place well-stocked for the coming months. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and appreciate your help in raising awareness about food insecurity in our community,” said Kaki McGeary, Executive Director for Aunt Dot’s Place.

According to data from Hunger Free Vermont, 40% of Vermonters now experience hunger daily, a sharp increase from pre-pandemic levels of 10%.

The City Council plans to continue its efforts, announcing another community drive in the spring to benefit the Heavenly Food Pantry. More information on this drive will be announced in the spring.
