Five Corners Farmers' Market

Posted Tuesday, May 29, 2018

After a year on hiatus, Five Corners Farmers’ Market is coming back for Summer 2018! Opening day is this upcoming Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

The Market will be in a new urban location and take place on a new night of the week, offering an eclectic mix of offerings. Still located in Five Corners, the Market is now at 3 Main Street in Essex Junction. This new market location has been made possible by the landowner, Gabe Handy. Market-goers can utilize easily accessible parking at 3 Maple Street. The Market will be held on Wednesdays, 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM from May 30 - August 29 and 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM from September 5 - October 3.

We are a producer-only market featuring a wide array of seasonally changing local offerings, to include produce, milk, cheese, eggs, maple, meat, flowers, Kombucha, kimchee and more. There will be dinner options for the entire family to enjoy, craft vendors, and a community table. New this year, the Market will be a mix of full-season vendors and part-time vendors with small operations that together will make for a vibrant and changing weekly market. Check out our Facebook page, @5CornersFarmersMarket, or stop by the Market to see what is new every week!

The Five Corners Farmers’ Market is excited to feature talented musicians at our Wednesday evening markets. In our new location, we have a large grassy area and picnic tables for market-goers to sit, listen to music, eat food and look over our lively community market.

The Market is also bringing back the Power of Produce (POP) Club for kids! Kids sign-up at the POP host table at the Market to learn about the weekly produce-based activity. For completing the activity, kids earn Market Money to spend on produce.

New this year is the FCFM Fan Club: a loyalty card program for our market-goers. For every six shopping visits at the Market, be entered into a drawing to win a gift certificate to a local business or restaurant. It is a win-win for market-goers, vendors, and local businesses.

Also this year, through a partnership with the Essex Bike Walk Advisory Committee, Bicycle Benefits may be purchased or redeemed at the Market. Cyclists with their Bicycle Benefits sticker on their helmet, can receive a $2 token weekly. The Five Corners Farmers’ Market becomes the third location in Essex Junction to participate in this program that encourages cycling as transportation.

We are still seeking volunteers for the Market. Opportunities are flexible: be it every week all season long, for a few Markets or even just one Market. Volunteer opportunities include assisting the Market Manager during the Market, set-up and take-down. If interested in volunteering, please e-mail 5cornersfarmersmarket@ gmail.com or sign-up at http://signup.com/go/vocZyw.

About the Market: The Five Corners Farmers Market is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the connection between our community and local farmers and producers of fresh, healthy foods and related products. A weekly farmers’ market in downtown Essex Junction provides convenient access to locally produced agricultural products, prepared foods, and crafts. In addition, the Market and other scheduled events helps to support a revitalized Village downtown.
