Maple Street Road Work
Please be advised beginning September 11, 2016 the Vermont Agency of Transportation in conjunction with Frank W. Whitcomb Construction Corporation will begin construction work on Maple Street/Route 117 from Elm Street to where the state highway ends and the town highway begins for a total distance of 1.1 miles. The expected completion date is spring of 2017.
This project will consist of grinding of the existing pavement, placing two courses of new pavement, drainage and manhole structure adjustments, pedestrian crosswalk improvements, new signs, new line markings and other incidental items.
During this construction period, motorists should expect traffic flow to be maintained with traffic control present allowing for alternating one lane of traffic. There will be both daytime and nighttime operations taking place throughout the project. The work from Elm Street to Maplewood Lane will be from 8:30am until 10:00pm. Also within that parameter there may be nights from 10:00pm to 6:00am where there will be traffic control present (flaggers) to allow for concrete curing time on the sewer and drainage structures. The working hours from Maplewood Lane to the end of the town highway will be from 6:00pm until 6:00am. We ask motorists to use extreme caution while traveling through the zone. The speed limit will be strictly enforced as the safety of the workers along with the motorists is of the utmost importance.
