Introduction to Quilting
Ruth will teach you the fundamentals of quilting by making three projects over the course of this class. A pillowcase project is where you learn about sewing machines, fabric selection and preparation, cutting, and the sewing process. A Roman Square baby quilt teaches you the parts of a quilt, quarter-inch seams, basic block construction, and pressing. You will also learn how to assemble and finish a quilt, all the way through to binding. Your final project, a twin-sized sampler quilt, consists of making basic shapes, and using those techniques to create 12 blocks. You will then assemble them into your very own sampler quilt. At the end of the class, you will have the skills to make thousands of different kinds of pieced quilts.
This class is hands-on, and you will be doing much of the work during class, so bring your sewing machine and tools, and you can get started!
