EPA - Information on Lake Champlain’s Phosphorus Total Maximum Daily Load

Lake Champlain Basin Program works in partnership with New York, Vermont, and Québec as well as other organizations and individuals to coordinate and fund efforts that benefit the Lake Champlain Basin’s water quality, fisheries, wetlands, wildlife, recreation, and cultural resources.

Winooski Natural Resource Conservation District is one of 14 conservation districts in Vermont that complete conservation projects that focus in the areas of agricultural assistance, forestland enhancement, urban conservation, and watershed stewardship.

Vermont Guide to Stormwater Management for Homeowners and Small Businesses provides technical assistance to homeowners and small businesses for mitigating stormwater on individual properties.

The Vermont Rain Garden Manual provides technical assistance to homeowners on how to install a rain garden. This guidance document will be updated in 2020.

Lawn to Lake is a multi-organizational outreach campaign encouraging property owners to implement best management practices while taking care of their lawn, such as using fertilizers that don’t contain phosphorus and raising the blade on your lawn mower, to mitigate stormwater. 

Blue® stormwater program is an evaluation and certification program where stormwater mitigation consultants certify homes, businesses and institutions as watershed friendly. Consultants educate and collaborate with property owners to identify opportunities for stormwater mitigation, affect behavioral changes, and establish stewardship principles to protect our waters from harmful algal blooms.

Low Risk Site Handbook for Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control provides the requirements for Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control from the proposed construction activity that is determined to be "Low Risk" under the State of Vermont’s Construction General Permit 3-9020.

Green Mountain Water Environment Association (GMWEA) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to promoting awareness of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater issues, and to supporting the professionals who work to protect Vermont’s water resources. GMWEA created a series of brochures in an effort to inform all Vermonters on how to protect their own health, keep their septic/sewer systems functioning, and keep toxins out of wells and natural waters.
