Wastewater Treatment Facility

The Essex Junction Wastewater Treatment Facility is owned by the Village of Essex Junction. The original plant was built in 1965 and has undergone several modifications since then to meet the needs of the three communities it serves. Flows to the plant are received from the Village, the Town of Essex and the Town of Williston. Williston and Essex flows are managed under a contract known as the Tri-Town Agreement.

Village voters approved a bond vote at a special Village meeting on 4/12/11 for the upgrade and reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant.  The Towns of Essex and Williston are cost sharing. The project went out to bid in the spring of 2012 and on 7/10/12, construction was awarded to Trumbull-Nelson Construction Co. of Hanover, NH in the amount of $11,832,465. Work has commenced and will be completed by July 2014.

The engineers on the project are Aldrich & Elliott, PC, of Essex:
